Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Maumere

Guests will arrive in Maumere and have time to get comfortable on the boat. We will depart once we have settled on the boat, and head towards the island of Pomona for a checkup dive:

Slopping reefs, combination of sand and corals, chances to see pygmies in the numerous fans that we will find along these easy dives.

Day 2: Batu Boga

A big surprise for this last day of diving. Great corals, great sea fans, lots of schooling grunts and snappers, turtles, and quite av few black tip. Without a doubt, a world class diving site.

Day 3: Sebolan Kecil

The last day in the park, easy nice slopes, healthy corals and the possibility of encounter with eagle rays that tent to hover close to the reef. After two dives, it is time to get ready for a long crossing along the island of Flores. Time to look to relax, lay in the sun deck, and remember that in the end, we are on holidays and resting should be part of it.

Day 4: Central Komodo & Wainilu

Back to the middle of the channel to dive the Signature site of Batu Bolong; the ‘Rock with the Hole’. This is a beautiful reef dive with plenty of fish, turtles and passing pelagics. Just beside on the current rich Karang Makassar is an excellent drift dive with manta cleaning action.

For a macro afternoon head to the small island of Wainilu on the north coast of Rinca. Diving along the sand slope in front of the beach should prove an excellent opportunity for critter hunting and some unusual nudibranchs.

This is the gateway to enjoy a walk in the park to view the prehistoric Komodo dragon. You may also see monkeys, water buffalo and wild boar or just enjoy the panoramic views over the park.

Day 5: Horseshoe Bay

Horseshoe Bay has a variety of Signature sites; the world famous pinnacle of Cannibal Rock has excellent schooling fish action but certainly plenty of macro to discover; The black sand slope of Torpedo Alley has some interesting macro opportunities especially for the night dive; and Yellow Wall is a vertical wall covered in yellow softcorals and yellow crinoids.

Even the anchorage is exciting with Komodo dragons prowling up and down the beach; wild boars feeding from the shoreline; flying Brahminy Kites and White Bellied Sea Eagles; deer swimming in the sea; monkeys climbing the trees.

Day 6: Langkoi & Padar

On the southern tip of the island of Komodo the Signature site of Manta Alley has some of the best schooling fish in the south. Although the water may be chilly the potential for manta action is closely followed by sharks, napolean wrasse, humphead parrotfish, sweetlips and turtles.

The island of Padar has the dive site of Pillarsteen with its dramatic seascapes of caves and swim throughs along the vertical wall. The pinnacles at the 3 Sisters rise beautifully from the white sand bottom and are covered in colourful reef fish and the elusive frogfish.

Day 7: Gili Lawa Laut

For some of the best schooling fish action in Komodo we will head to the north of the park and dive on two seamounts called Crystal Rock and Castle Rock. Keep you eyes open for cruising sharks amongst the clouds of schooling fish.

Day 8: Disembark

Disembembark at Labuan Bajo harbour

About Damai I Liveaboard

Constructed in 2009 by the renowned builder Pak Hadji Baso in Tanjung Bira, South Sulawesi, Damai I embodies a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and extensive knowledge gained from years in the Indonesian liveaboard diving industry.

Damai I offers spacious accommodations across its seven staterooms. Indeed, guests can choose from single cabins, twins, doubles, or indulge in the luxurious master cabins. Moreover, each cabin is elegantly furnished with queen- or king-sized beds and equipped with en-suite toilets and showers, ensuring comfort and privacy.

Lower Deck

The Cabins 1 to 4 have a desk, a wardrobe, three reading lights and a bed side table. Of course, the rooms are fully air-conditioned and have en-suite facilities, where the shower has a dividing glass door.

It has a direct access to a private balcony, inside the cabins, the en-suite shower and toilet facilities are devided into two compartments. Of course the room is fully air-conditioned.

Upper Deck

  • Cabin 7, King or Twin Bed Cabin – USD 640/night

In the cabin, there is a desk, in-room sink unit and en-suite combined toilet and shower facilities. Moreover, the room is fully air conditioned and is located on the upper deck with direct access to the sun decks.

Diving Experience with Damai 1

Dive enthusiasts will appreciate the well-equipped dive stations with individual rinse tanks, a dedicated camera room with separate workstations, and convenient 110v and 220v charging stations for each photographer’s equipment. Furthermore, Damai 1 offers three local dive guides and one Instructor on board throughout your trip. As a result, with a maximum of only 12 guests, they maintain an exceptional 4:1 guest to dive guide ratio. Additionally, they provide two custom-designed high-speed tender boats, ensuring safe and comfortable transfers to and from the dive sites.
