Itinerary
Day 1 – Check-in at Biak
Upon arrival in Biak, you’ll check in and board the Dancing Wind Liveaboard. The first dive is at the Flying Catalina—a well-preserved plane wreck resting between 19–30 meters, home to black corals, gorgonians, lionfish, glassfish, and shrimps. You may also dive Pasar Ikan, a muck dive site known for critters like cockatoo waspfish and ghost pipefish. The boat will cruise overnight to the next destination.
Day 2 – Padaido Islands
The Padaido Islands offer a range of dive sites, from walls and slopes to pinnacles and wrecks. Expect to see a mix of reef fish, juvenile sharks, jacks, and barracudas. A popular night or muck dive under the Mios Wundi village pier reveals many hidden critters.
Day 3 – Yapen Island
Diving at Dry Yapen includes seamounts with strong currents, starting at 8 meters and sloping down beyond 35 meters. Beautiful soft coral gardens cover the reef. Nearby, a sandy ridge and bommies offer a different dive profile with rich coral life and marine species.
Day 4 – Mangguar and Outer Atolls
Tanjung Mangguar is a stunning dive site filled with sea whips, barrel sponges, elephant ear sponges, and giant clams. Expect sightings of barracudas, jacks, rainbow runners, sharks, manta rays, and mobula rays—all in crystal-clear waters surrounded by vibrant coral gardens.
Day 5 – The Bagans (Whale Shark Day!)
This is the highlight of the trip—diving beneath the floating fishing platforms (Bagans) where whale sharks gather. This unique and unforgettable encounter is the main reason many divers come to Cenderawasih Bay.
Day 6 – Roon Island
Pulau Auri features large boulders, soft and hard coral, and prolific green Tubastrea corals. You might spot fusiliers, humphead parrotfish, and the occasional small grey reef shark. Tanjung Ayami offers more boulder dives rich in marine life like fusiliers and barracudas.
Day 7 – Manim Island
Manim is home to over seven WWII landing craft wrecks scattered along a white sand slope. These wrecks lie at varying depths from 5 meters to 40+ meters, each adorned with colorful coral growth.
Day 8 – Numfoor
Diving in Numfoor features a wall and steep slope with excellent coral growth, clear water, and plenty of big fish. Expect to see reef sharks, barracudas, tunas, groupers, and snappers in a lively current-rich environment.
Day 9 – Mansinam’s Shipwrecks (only for trips ending in Manokwari)
You’ll explore historic wrecks like “Cross,” a 35m patrol vessel; “Pillbox,” a 60–65m ammo cargo ship; and “Pasir Putih,” a 30–35m military patrol boat. All are in excellent condition and offer critter-rich diving, especially at night.
Day 10 – Manokwari’s WWII Shipwrecks (only for trips ending in Manokwari)
Explore famous Japanese shipwrecks, including the Shinwa Maru, a massive 120m cargo ship lying at 35 meters. Hit during WWII, this wreck is full of wartime remnants and surrounded by soft corals, oysters, and schooling mackerel.
Day 11 – Disembarkation in Manokwari
Check-out is between 06:00 and 12:00. Transfers will be arranged to Rendani Airport or to your hotel if you’re staying on.
