The Gili Islands are a group of three small islands off the northwest coast of Lombok, Indonesia. Consisting of Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air, these are a little paradise offering beautiful beaches, snorkeling, and diving.
Why Visit the Gili Islands?
The Gili Islands are an excellent destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Bali and experience a more laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. The Gili Islands are the perfect place to unwind and recharge with crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and no motorized vehicles.
Which Gili Island is for you?
Gili Trawangan – The most vibrant
Gili Trawangan is the biggest and the most developed of the three islands. Often referred to as a party island, Gili Trawangan is still a relaxing place. Sure, the party scene is there, and you might cross paths with younger travelers spending some fun time there. But the island is rather large, and the parties are mostly happening near the harbor. But of course, all this nightlife happening means that the experience is a bit less authentic than Gili Meno or Gili Air.
Gili Meno – The most relaxing
Gili Meno is the smallest and least developed of the Gili Islands. Referred to as the honeymoon island, Gili Meno is the best island for a chill and relaxing experience. Gili Meno has the most beautiful and pristine beaches and is an amazing place to go snorkeling with sea turtles. No parties there, but you will meet locals playing the guitar and singing the night away.
Gili Air – The perfect balance
Gili Air is the island closest to Lombok and is a mix between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno. The best place to chill while having many options for accommodation, restaurants, and even beach parties. Gili Air is perfect for couples and families as many activities are available for everybody.
