Hiking at Mount Bromo

The trek to the crater rim takes about 45 minutes to an hour from the village of Cemoro Lawang. Along the way, you’ll navigate through a unique terrain of volcanic ash and sand, surrounded by a surreal, otherworldly landscape. The temperature can be quite cool, especially in the early morning, often dropping to around 10°C (50°F) or lower, so dressing in layers is essential.

The best time to visit is the dry season, April to October, when the skies are clear at dawn. That is the whole reason for the pre-dawn start.
