About Sundari Voyages

Sundari Voyages is a newly built wooden phinisi designed for diving and leisure liveaboard trips in Komodo National Park. Crafted by master builders in Bira, Bulukumba, the birthplace of Indonesia’s phinisi tradition, her hull was completed in 2024 and she set sail in 2025.

At 34 metres long and 6.5 metres wide, Sundari carries the name that suits her perfectly: in Sanskrit, Sundari means “Beautiful.” She was designed from the start to balance Indonesian craftsmanship with the comfort level that serious dive travellers expect at sea.

What sets Sundari apart from a standard charter is the focus on purposeful diving. Archipelago Dive Reserve runs collaboration trips that bring together underwater photographers, videographers, marine biologists, and expedition leaders — so guests dive alongside working professionals and come back having learned something real.

The Experience

Diving with Purpose

Each Sundari trip is built around responsible marine interaction. Guests learn to read wildlife behaviour, approach marine life without disturbing it, and document what they see. The approach is practical: less lecture, more doing.

Every trip includes land excursions to Komodo’s iconic spots: Padar Island, Komodo Island, and Pink Beach. The final day includes a beach clean-up activity, giving guests a direct role in the conservation of the area they came to explore.

Archipelago Dive Reserve donates 1% of every booking to free scuba diving programmes for local students under 22, in partnership with P3Kom (Professional Divers Community of Komodo). It’s a small cut of the ticket price, but it funds real access to the water for the next generation of local divers.

The director of Archipelago Dive Reserve joins every trip personally — welcoming guests aboard and staying actively involved throughout. This isn’t an operation run from a distance.
