Itinerary
An 11-day expedition dedicated to Misool, southern Raja Ampat’s crown jewel: explosive soft coral reefs, swirling schools of fish, reef mantas at Magic Mountain, hidden lagoons, sea caves, and some of the highest recorded marine biodiversity on Earth, all within a strict no-take marine reserve. Route: Sorong, Batanta, Misool (Daram, Fiabacet, Boo, Warakaraket, Wayilbatan, Farondi, Balbulol), Dampier Strait, back to Sorong. Up to 28-30 dives, 3-4 per diving day.
Day 1: Arrival & embarkation, Sorong
Arrive at Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ), Sorong. Transfer to the harbour to board the vessel. Cabin check-in, safety briefing, equipment setup, and welcome dinner on board. Overnight cruise towards Batanta Island. No dives today.
Day 2: Batanta, check dive & critters (3 dives)
Morning check dive on a sheltered Batanta reef to fine-tune weighting and buoyancy. Afternoon muck and critter dives, wonderpus, flamboyant cuttlefish, and rare nudibranchs are regular finds. Overnight crossing south to Misool.
Day 3: Misool, Daram (3-4 dives)
Misool’s remote eastern frontier. Daram’s sites, Candy Store and Andiamo, deliver dense soft corals, sea fans, and huge schools of fusiliers and snappers. Optional sunset or night dive.
Day 4: Misool, Fiabacet (3-4 dives)
The legendary Fiabacet chain: Nudi Rock, Tank Rock, and Whale Rock. Pygmy seahorses on gorgonians, wobbegong sharks under table corals, and walls carpeted in colour, consistently ranked among the best reef dives in the world.
Day 5: Misool, Boo & Yilliet (3-4 dives)
The iconic Boo Windows, swim-throughs in the reef wall that frame the blue, plus Boo West and Yilliet Kecil. Grey and blacktip reef sharks, turtles, and barracuda tornadoes. Optional night dive at the jetty.
Day 6: Misool, Magic Mountain & Warakaraket (3 dives)
Magic Mountain (Shadow Reef) is Misool’s signature dive, a submerged seamount where oceanic and reef manta rays share a cleaning station. Afternoon dive at nearby Kalig Ridge.
Day 7: Misool, Wayilbatan (3-4 dives)
Wall and channel diving at Neptune’s Fan Sea, Barracuda Rock, Wedding Cake, and Four Kings. Giant gorgonian fans, dense glassfish clouds, and patrolling trevallies. Evening anchorage in a mirror-calm lagoon.
Day 8: Misool, Farondi Caves & Balbulol (3 dives) + Harfat Peak
Morning dives through Farondi’s light-filled caverns and tunnels (Goa Farondi, Verena’s Garden), then Balbulol’s pinnacles. Afternoon trek up Harfat Peak (Dapunlol) for a panorama over Misool’s karst lagoons, and a visit to the heart-shaped Love Lagoon (Karawapop) viewpoint.
Day 9: Misool, Captain’s Choice (3-4 dives)
Return to the sites where conditions promise the most: a second chance at Magic Mountain mantas, Boo Windows at golden hour, or an unexplored ridge. Sunset lagoon cruise by tender, overnight crossing north.
Day 10: Dampier Strait, farewell dives (2 morning dives)
Two final morning dives in the fish-soup of the Dampier Strait (Sardine Reef or Mioskon). All diving ends by midday to respect the 24-hour no-fly interval. Afternoon cruise to Sorong, gear rinsing, logbook signing, and farewell dinner.
Day 11: Disembarkation, Sorong
After breakfast, disembark at Sorong Harbour. Transfer to Domine Eduard Osok Airport (SOQ) for your onward flight.
Good to know: the itinerary is indicative, dive sites and order may change according to weather, sea conditions, tides, and the cruise director’s judgement, always in favour of the best and safest diving. Last dives take place on the morning of Day 10 to guarantee a minimum 24-hour surface interval before flying. Misool is a remote no-take zone: reef-safe sunscreen only, no gloves, strict no-touch reef etiquette applies.
