Where You’ll Dive

Dampier Strait (Mioskon & Kri)
The strait between Gam and Waigeo is where Raja Ampat earned its reputation. Sites like Cape Kri, Blue Magic, Sardines and Chicken Reef sit in nutrient-rich current that pulls in dense schools of fusiliers and snapper, patrolling trevally, reef sharks and the occasional oceanic manta drifting through to be cleaned. Cape Kri still holds one of the highest single-dive fish counts ever recorded.
Kawe & the Equator Islands
North-west of the main group, Kawe is manta country. Eagle Rock is the signature site, with cleaning stations that draw reef mantas alongside schooling pelagics. The Equator Islands and outcrops like Black Rocks add exposed, current-fed reefs that reward divers who like a bit of action.
Wayag
Wayag is the postcard of Raja Ampat: a maze of limestone karst islands rising out of clear water. Below the surface, North Wayag Rock, Figure of Eight and Cathedral Rock hold healthy reef, mantas, reef sharks and the well-camouflaged wobbegong. Strict local conservation keeps the reefs here in excellent shape. Topside, the climb to the lagoon viewpoint is worth the early start.
Aljui Bay
Aljui is the trip’s change of pace, geared to small creatures rather than schools. Steep walls and fan corals shelter several species of pygmy seahorse and a long list of nudibranchs. The three piers at the Cendana Pearl Farm make for one of Raja Ampat’s best night dives, with critters out across the sand and structure after dark.
Penemu & Wofoh
Penemu pairs hard-coral ridges and barracuda schools below the water with its iconic lagoon lookout above it. Nearby Wofoh offers a handful of quieter, well-kept sites to round out the northern loop before the run back to Sorong.
