15% off a one-way crossing from Komodo to Sumbawa aboard Tiaré, 14 to 21 August 2026. Seven nights, around 21 dives, boarding in Labuan Bajo and stepping off at Sumbawa Besar. Twelve guests on a 46-metre ironwood phinisi. The route takes in Komodo’s manta cleaning stations, an active volcano you dive at the foot of, and Saleh Bay.

Single occupancy in the Double Cabin is USD 5,760 (instead of USD 6,776), the same 15% off. Very few spaces are left on this departure, including one female twin share place, so ask us what is still open before you book flights.

What the price covers

Included: all meals and two snacks a day, water, soft drinks, juice, Balinese coffee and tea. Up to four dives a day, with tanks, weights and belts. Laundry. Canoes, paddle boards and a towable tube. Wifi, which runs off a local mobile network and comes and goes. Airport and hotel transfers on boarding and disembarkation days.

Not included: national park and port clearance fees, nitrox at USD 15 per diving day, full equipment rental at USD 25 per day, alcohol and espresso, courses, massages, crew tips, flights and hotels, and a fuel surcharge if one applies. Ask us for the current park fee figure before you budget, since it changes and this itinerary crosses two regions.

Level: Open Water or equivalent with at least six logged dives. Komodo’s northern sites run strong current, so bring whatever drift experience you have.

Itinerary

A one-way run west out of Komodo National Park and along the Sumbawa coast. You fly into Labuan Bajo and out of Sumbawa Besar, which is worth checking with your airline before booking.

Day 1: Labuan Bajo and Sebayur

Met at the airport and taken to the boat. Lunch while Tiaré sails for Sebayur Island, where she anchors for the night in a sheltered bay.

Day 2: Rinca Island and Manta Point

Manta Point is a cleaning station, which is to say the mantas come to be picked over by wrasse and you sit on the sand and watch. Rinca is the other island where the dragons live, with a fraction of Komodo Island’s visitors.

Day 3: Gili Lawa and Batu Montjo

The north of the park, which is where Komodo gets serious. Cold, fast water and the schooling fish and sharks that come with it.

Day 4: Sangeang Island

An active volcano rising straight out of the sea, with black sand slopes running down underwater and gas bubbling up through them. Muck diving against a backdrop nothing else in the region matches.

Day 5: Satonda Island

A volcanic crater holding a salt lake, with reef on the outside of the rim.

Day 6: Saleh Bay

The reason a lot of people book this route. Saleh Bay holds a resident population of whale sharks, several hundred animals, which gather around the local fishing platforms rather than passing through on a season. April to November is the window and August sits in the middle of it. No wild animal is a certainty and we will not pretend otherwise, but the odds here are as good as they get in Indonesia.

Day 7: Moyo Island

Day 8: Sumbawa Besar

Breakfast, a group photo with the crew, then a tender to the port two hours before your boarding time and a private car to the airport or your hotel.

Sites and order shift with weather and current, as they should. Leave 18 hours between your last dive and any flight, which on this itinerary means the day after you step off.

The boat

Tiaré is a 46-metre phinisi built in 2016 from Sulawesi ironwood, with six cabins for twelve guests. Air conditioning and ensuite bathrooms throughout.

Getting there and back

You fly into Labuan Bajo (LBJ) and home from Sumbawa Besar (SWQ), so this is not a return ticket. Labuan Bajo has several flights a day from Bali. Sumbawa Besar is smaller and usually routes through Lombok or Denpasar, so book that leg early. Boarding is between 10am and 11am on 14 August and you leave the boat between 8am and 9am on 21 August.
