Otium

Otium is a 48 m phinisi, new in 2026, with 6 cabins for up to 12 guests and a crew of 15. She was built in Bira, South Sulawesi, where phinisi have been built for generations, and her interiors were designed with Walter Wagner, the architect behind Nihi Sumba. She sails Komodo, Sumbawa, Alor, the Banda Islands and Raja Ampat, as a private charter or, from 2027, on Signature Voyages where you book one cabin.

The Owners Suite fills 39 m² of the main deck, with a king bed and a private balcony. The Queen Suite sits on the upper deck: 25 m², a king bed, a lounge corner and a desk, with the sea in view from the bed. Four staterooms of 15 m² on the lower deck each have a queen bed and portholes. All six are air-conditioned and have their own bathroom with hot water. Also on the main deck, the Day Club is a 45 m² sundeck with loungers, a bow lounge and an open-air table for 12. Inside, the air-conditioned lounge has a TV, a sound system and a small library.

The crew includes a cruise director, a dive instructor and a massage therapist. Otium carries two dive compressors with nitrox, dive gear for every guest and underwater scooters. First-time divers can try a discovery dive with the instructor. Two RIB tenders take you to the reefs and beaches. On the surface there are kayaks, paddleboards, a wakeboard and surfboards. There is Starlink Wi-Fi on board.

Trips run from 4 to 12 days. In Komodo you climb to the Padar viewpoint and walk among the dragons on Komodo or Rinca. Banda trips start in Ambon and add the old nutmeg plantations and the Dutch forts of Banda Neira. In Raja Ampat, trips from Sorong take in the lagoons of Piaynemo and the reefs of the Dampier Strait. In Alor, strong currents bring in pelagic fish, and the villages still weave by hand.

The rate covers transfers from the airport or your hotel, all meals, soft drinks, laundry, fuel, park entrance fees, the dive gear and nitrox. Flights, hotels on land, alcohol, crew tips and insurance are extra. Dive insurance is required for every diver. A charter that starts away from the boat’s base adds a relocation fee of half the nightly rate for each night of the transfer.
