Inspired by the traditional conical houses of Bena Village in Bajawa, the circular design of the Bungalows in Manulalu Bajawa reflects the cultural values of harmony and justice within families and communities. The open-plan layout and full-height windows put the jungle right in the room.

Completed in 2018, the seven Jungle Bungalows sit on the southwest side of the property, 900 metres from Heaven’s Door Restaurant, about a 30-minute walk.

The number seven holds sacred meaning in local tradition, paying tribute to Wae Rebo, a revered traditional village in West Manggarai. In Wae Rebo, the number symbolizes reverence for the seven directions of the mountain – seen as a guardian and protector of the village – and this spiritual significance is deeply woven into the essence of Manulalu’s jungle sanctuary.

Double Bungalow

The Double Bungalows suit couples or solo travellers. Each has a double bed with a mosquito net, an ensuite bathroom with hot and cold water, and bath amenities. The private balcony looks out into the trees, which is where you end up after a day out in the mountains and villages of Flores.

Family Bungalow

The Family Bungalow takes couples, families or small groups, and looks straight across at Mount Inerie. Each one is built low into the landscape, so you get privacy and the view at the same time.

This charming duplex-style bungalow features two cozy levels. The ground floor includes a comfortable double bed with a mosquito net and a private balcony – perfect for morning coffee or quiet evenings in the fresh mountain air. Upstairs, you’ll find a second double bed, creating a spacious yet intimate setting for a restful night’s sleep.

Located on the upper hillside near the Common Lounge Area, these rooms offer extra privacy and a peaceful garden ambiance surrounded by Bajawa’s natural beauty.

Each room has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom and a terrace over the garden, which is where the morning coffee happens. The interiors are simple, and the main compound is a short walk away.

Budget Rooms

These rooms are ideal for couples, solo adventurers, or small groups, and are located near the garden, BBQ area, and communal indoor lounge – perfect for those who enjoy a friendly, social atmosphere.

The Budget Double Room has a double bed, an ensuite bathroom and a garden view. It works on its own or combined with the Twin Rooms next door.

The Budget Twin Rooms are the colourful ones, half indoors and half out. Each has two single beds and a private bathroom, which suits backpackers, friends and groups.
