If you are planning to join us onboard KLM Eliya in Komodo National Park there has been some changes about the Komodo National Park Permits that you need to be aware of.

As part of the Indonesian government’s efforts to protect the park’s extraordinary marine biodiversity and ensure sustainable tourism, a daily visitor quota system has been introduced. The National Park now allows a maximum of 1,000 visitors per day based on its ecological carrying capacity.

This new policy means that all of your Komodo National Park Permits need to be secured in advance of arrival to secure your dates.

Permits are issued for specific dates and availability is limited. For those of you joining us onboard KLM Eliya we will arrange the permits on your behalf. We will collect the permit fees prior to arrival so we can purchase them ahead of time.

We appreciate your understanding as these new regulations are implemented. The goal is to help protect Komodo’s incredible marine ecosystem so divers and ocean lovers can continue enjoying it for many years to come.

One of our drivers will collect you from your hotel (If you plan to take the early morning flight we can have our driver collect you from the airport also) and bring you to our office in Labuan Bajo. All guests will meet at our office in town between 08:00-8:30am. We will then walk down to the harbour together at 09.00am.

Once everybody is onboard our crew will offer you a welcome drink and our Cruise Director will orientate you to the KLM Eliya and explain how the next week is going to work as well as ensuring you are fully aware of our safety procedures onboard.

You will be given ample time to check out your cabins and become familiar with the boat while we make our way to the first dive site.

Today we aim to do 3 dives with you: 2 afternoon dives with lunch in between followed by a sunset/ night dive before a delicious evening meal cooked by our fantastic local chefs. Depending on the the Cruise Directors plans, today might offer 2 dives + the opportunity to see the Komodo Dragons on Rinca island- the specific itinerary will be clarified once you are aboard :)

As we will have journeyed overnight, we will wake you up nice and early for your first dive of day 2! Today your adventure truly begins with world class dive sites that the Komodo National Park has to offer.

Days 2- 5 will follow a similar schedule:

We will wake you each morning around 6.00am, allowing you the option to enjoy some light snacks, tea and coffee, before embarking on your first exhilarating dive of the day- we cannot think of a better way to wake up!

After Dive 1 you will be welcomed back onboard with a hot, tasty breakfast to enjoy as we travel to our second site of the day.

Dive 2 will begin late morning. After Dive 2 you will enjoy an extended surface interval, allowing ample time to enjoy a delicious lunch!

Dive 3 will begin late afternoon, allowing plenty of time to soak up the stunning scenery this area has to offer.

Your final dive of the day will be a sunset/ night dive. Depending on the location of the site, we will serve dinner either before, or after this dive.

It's not all about the diving! At some point during day 2-5 we will aim to explore the Komodo National Park a little deeper with two incredible land/nature tours (such as a walk up Gilli Lawa Darat for incredible views over the National Park, encountering the Komodo Dragons on Rinca island or visiting the famous Pink beach to name a few possibilities!) These will vary depending on which part of the Komodo National Park you are in. Your Cruise Director will explain more during your welcoming briefing!

Your final dive will be in the morning, so to ensure you clear the 18 hr no fly time, we recommend that you book a departing flight the day after you disembark from KLM Eliya.

After your last and final dive (until next time that is!) and, as no journey to Komodo National Park is complete without a visit to see the famous Komodo Dragons, we will take you over to Rinca island for your Dragon Tour!

The Ranger Station at Loh Buaya offers a recently built Education Centre which is a great addition to seeing the Komodo Dragons. The Rangers of Rinca are infinitely knowledgeable about the Komodo Dragon and are always happy to share their knowledge with you.

The trekking time on Rinca Island usually ranges from 1.5 - 2 hours (including visiting the Education Centre). Komodo dragons are not the only animal you can see here- keep your eyes out for monkeys, water buffalo, deer and an array of birds flying over head!

If you have already enjoyed the wonders of Rinca island on day 1, then the plan will be to complete 2 morning dives today!

KLM Eliya will return to harbour around 14:30pm on the final day. Breakfast and lunch are served as per usual after the first and second dive (or Dragon tour). Once back at the office in town, our staff will assist in settling any remaining payments, and arranging taxis to your hotels or airport.

No journey to Central Raja Ampat is complete without a hike to see the stunning views of the turquoise blue lagoons below! It takes about 15 minutes to hike the 200 steps to the top, a little bit of a trek, but worth it for the views!

Days 5 will follow a similar schedule to day 2 & 3

We aim to finish the last dive by 1pm, allowing enough time to off gas, dry your dive gear and prepare for any onward travels. The afternoon will be spent making our journey back to Sorong for our final overnight port.

Breakfast will be served as per usual and all guests will disembark by 10am. We can help to arrange taxis to your hotel in town or to the airport if you have an onward flight.

Scattered across the far western edge of Papua, Raja Ampat is one of the last truly untouched marine frontiers on Earth. This immense archipelago, located in the centre of the Coral Triangle, shelters the highest marine biodiversity ever recorded, making it a dream destination for divers, underwater photographers and ocean explorers alike.

Above the water, jagged limestone islands emerge from crystal-clear lagoons covered in dense tropical rainforest. Hidden beaches, winding passages and remote anchorages create landscapes that feel almost unreal. Beneath the surface lies an underwater world of astonishing richness, where coral reefs burst with life and every dive reveals something new.

After settling into your cabin, there will be time to meet the crew, get comfortable with life onboard and attend the trip briefing. As Eliya slowly departs Sorong, we begin our journey north toward the heart of Raja Ampat.

During the crossing, dolphins and even whales are occasionally spotted in the distance.

In the afternoon, we will conduct a relaxed check dive on a nearby reef around Waisai, where healthy coral formations provide shelter to reef fish, turtles and the iconic wobbegong shark. Back onboard, the first sunset over the archipelago marks the true beginning of the expedition.

Today we begin exploring the legendary Dampier Strait, one of the richest marine environments in Raja Ampat. Here, strong tidal currents bring nutrient-rich water through the narrow channels between the islands, creating ideal conditions for an explosion of marine life.

Depending on tides and conditions, dives may include world-renowned sites such as Cape Kri, Sardines Reef, Blue Magic, Chicken Reef, Mioskon or Sawandarek. Large schools of fusiliers, barracudas and jacks gather above thriving coral reefs while reef sharks and turtles patrol the slopes below. Manta rays are also regularly encountered in the area.

After sunset, the reef transforms completely. Night dives reveal a fascinating world of nocturnal activity, often including encounters with the endemic Raja Ampat walking shark.

Today we head toward the remote western side of Waigeo, where isolated reefs and submerged pinnacles attract impressive fish life.

Sites such as Mayhem are known for fast-paced action in the blue, with giant trevallies, dogtooth tuna and large schools of jacks hunting through dense clouds of fusiliers. One of the highlights of the region is a unique mangrove ecosystem where coral reefs grow directly beneath the trees, creating an extraordinary underwater landscape unlike anywhere else in the world.

The Penemu region is famous for its spectacular scenery both above and below the surface. Maze-like limestone islands rise from shallow turquoise lagoons while nutrient-rich currents feed some of the healthiest coral reefs in Central Raja Ampat.

Among the highlights is Melissa’s Garden, renowned for its pristine hard coral formations and abundant reef life. Schools of sweetlips, snappers and fusiliers gather across the reef while reef sharks and napoleon wrasses cruise through the deeper sections.

In the late afternoon, we go ashore for a short hike to the iconic Piaynemo viewpoint. From the summit, one of Raja Ampat’s most breathtaking panoramas unfolds across a sea of limestone islands and hidden lagoons.

Today we continue exploring a more remote side of Central Raja Ampat, visiting reefs and island groups rarely frequented by other liveaboards.

Over the years, our dive team has discovered several exceptionally healthy dive sites in this area, featuring vibrant coral gardens, excellent visibility and remarkable fish density. Protected lagoons, white sand beaches and quiet anchorages reinforce the feeling of exploration that defines Raja Ampat.

Conditions permitting, we also hope to visit a manta cleaning station along with several lesser-known reefs known only to us.

As Eliya gradually makes her way back toward the Dampier Strait, we continue exploring the incredible diversity of dive sites spread throughout the region.

With countless reefs, pinnacles and submerged ridges scattered between the islands, every dive offers a different experience. Depending on conditions and guest preferences, we may return to a favourite site or explore another hidden corner of Central Raja Ampat. Large schools of fish, vibrant coral formations and encounters with sharks, turtles and manta rays remain possible until the very last days of the expedition.

Our final diving day offers one last opportunity to experience the extraordinary biodiversity that has made Raja Ampat one of the most celebrated diving destinations in the world.

Two final dives will be selected according to conditions and recent sightings before Eliya begins her journey back toward Sorong. Once back onboard, equipment is rinsed and secured while guests enjoy a final evening at sea surrounded by the unforgettable landscapes of Raja Ampat.

After breakfast, guests begin disembarkation in Sorong.

Departures may take place from 5:00 AM onwards, with all guests leaving the vessel by 10:00 AM. Transfers can be arranged either to Sorong Airport or to hotels within the city for guests continuing their travels through Indonesia.

In the afternoon, we will conduct a relaxed check dive around Pulau Matan, a small island surrounded by white sand beaches and healthy reefs where wobbegong sharks often rest beneath coral ledges.

Back onboard, the first sunset over Raja Ampat marks the true beginning of the adventure.

After an overnight crossing, we will wake up surrounded by the dramatic limestone formations characteristic of Southern Raja Ampat. The Daram Archipelago is a remote cluster of rocky islets and uninhabited islands located on the eastern side of Misool.

Exceptional diving awaits us on famous sites such as Living Colours, Candy Store or Andiamo. Spectacular sea fan forests cover the reefs while schools of batfish and jacks cruise through the blue. The marine life is dense, vibrant and incredibly rich, offering a spectacular introduction to the world-class diving of Southern Raja Ampat.

After the afternoon dive, Eliya will continue her journey deeper into Misool’s main dive area. Later in the evening, we will organise either a sunset or night dive on a reef known for encounters with the elusive Raja Ampat walking shark, along with a variety of fascinating nocturnal critters.

Today we will be diving in the heart of the Misool Marine Protected Area. Decades of conservation efforts and careful management have transformed this region into one of the true jewels of the diving world.

The diving here is simply phenomenal. Everywhere you look, life flourishes in astonishing abundance. Giant sea fan forests grow along current-swept ridges while vertical walls are covered in soft corals and massive sponges. These reefs support an extraordinary density of marine life.

Schools of barracuda and jacks patrol the blue water while napoleon wrasses and bumphead parrotfish roam the reefs below. Majestic manta rays are frequently encountered on several cleaning stations, and shark populations continue to grow year after year.

Combined with postcard-perfect landscapes, hidden lagoons and crystal-clear waters, Misool truly feels like a diver’s dream. Dive sites for the day will be selected according to conditions, with the aim of visiting some of the signature reefs that have made this area legendary among divers worldwide.

Today we continue exploring this incredible region with three dives on carefully selected reefs around Misool.

Once the afternoon dive is completed, Eliya will turn her bow north toward Central Raja Ampat. We will enjoy another spectacular sunset at sea before continuing our overnight crossing through the heart of the archipelago.

Welcome to Central Raja Ampat. The landscapes are different here, and so is the diving.

While still spectacular, there is a clear visual shift between the steep slopes covered in sea fans and soft corals typical of Misool, and the shallower hard coral gardens that dominate this region. This is also the favourite playground of the iconic wobbegong shark, more commonly encountered here.

The islands of Penemu sit at the heart of a maze of limestone islets and nutrient-rich currents that support spectacular reef systems. Among the highlights is Melissa’s Garden, famous for its vast fields of pristine hard corals and frequent encounters with napoleon wrasse, reef sharks and schooling fish.

In the late afternoon, we step ashore for a short hike to the iconic Piaynemo viewpoint. From the summit, a breathtaking panorama unfolds across Raja Ampat’s world-famous limestone seascape.

Today we venture deeper into the western reaches of Waigeo Island, where isolated reefs and submerged seamounts attract an abundance of marine life.

Sites such as Mayhem are known for their intense fish action, with schools of barracuda and jackfish patrolling the blue while giant trevallies and dogtooth tuna hunt among vast clouds of fusiliers. One of the area’s most unique dives combines mangrove forests and coral reefs, creating a habitat unlike anywhere else in the world.

Some local communities actively protect the waters surrounding their villages and jetties, creating thriving marine sanctuaries rich in life. Diving beneath one of these village jetties, whether during the day or at night, is truly one of the most unique experiences Raja Ampat has to offer. Schools of fish gather in astonishing numbers beneath the structures, while the seabed reveals an incredible variety of rare and fascinating critters.

The Dampier Strait is one of Raja Ampat’s most celebrated diving regions. Powerful currents fuel an extraordinary concentration of marine life, creating some of the richest reefs in the archipelago.

Depending on conditions and tides, we may explore iconic sites such as Cape Kri, Blue Magic, Sardines Reef, Chicken Reef, Mioskon, Sawandarek and many more. Massive schools of fish, reef sharks, turtles, manta rays and thriving coral gardens are common encounters.

As darkness falls, attention shifts toward the smaller and more unusual critters, often encountered along a sandy slope nicknamed “The Crazy Zoo”, considered one of the best night dives in the region. Hidden among the sand and rubble, a fascinating variety of nocturnal creatures emerges after sunset, turning the dive into a true macro safari.

Our final diving day is reserved for a memorable farewell to Raja Ampat. Two last dives will be selected, offering a final opportunity to experience the extraordinary biodiversity of the archipelago.

Once back onboard, equipment is rinsed and secured as Eliya begins her return journey toward Sorong.

After breakfast, guests begin disembarkation in Sorong. Departures may take place from 5:00 AM onwards, with all guests leaving the vessel by 10:00 AM.

Transfers can be arranged either to Sorong Airport or to hotels within the city for guests continuing their travels through Indonesia.

Between 9-930am, one of our drivers will collect you from your hotel* and bring you to the harbour in Sorong. The specific time of pick up will be confirmed over Whatsapp by your Cruise Director the night before you sail!

After settling into your cabin, there will be time to meet the crew, prepare dive equipment and attend the trip briefing. As Eliya departs Sorong and begins her voyage south, the first limestone islands gradually appear on the horizon.

In the afternoon, we will complete a relaxed check dive around Pulau Matan, a small island surrounded by clear waters and healthy reefs where turtles and wobbegong sharks are regularly encountered.

As night falls, the first sunset at sea marks the beginning of our expedition through Raja Ampat.

*If you plan to take the early morning flight we can also arrange a pick up from the airport, as long as you land no later than 10am. We highly recommend planning on arriving the night before embarkation to avoid any undue stress or risk of flight delays.

Following an overnight crossing, we arrive in the Daram Archipelago, a spectacular chain of rugged limestone islands located on the eastern side of Misool.

The reefs here are famous for their colourful soft corals, enormous sea fans and dense marine life. Dive sites such as Candy Store, Andiamo and Living Colours often deliver fast-paced action with schools of fusiliers, barracudas, batfish and hunting predators moving through the currents.

The underwater scenery is equally impressive, with dramatic reef structures covered in vibrant coral growth from shallow slopes down to deeper walls.

After the afternoon dive, Eliya continues deeper into Misool Marine Protected Area. In the evening, we may organise either a sunset or night dive in search of walking sharks, decorator crabs and other nocturnal reef inhabitants.

Today we dive in the heart of the Misool Marine Protected Area, one of the most successful marine conservation zones in Southeast Asia.

Years of protection have allowed these reefs to recover into some of the healthiest ecosystems in the world. Fish biomass is exceptional, coral coverage remains remarkably intact and encounters with large marine life are increasingly frequent. Steep underwater ridges covered in soft corals descend into deep blue water while massive sea fans line the current-swept walls. Schools of barracudas, jacks and snappers gather above the reef while bumphead parrotfish and napoleon wrasses patrol below.

Manta rays are commonly encountered around cleaning stations, and every dive reveals an extraordinary density of marine life. Between dives, the scenery above the water is equally unforgettable, with hidden lagoons, towering karst islands and crystal-clear anchorages surrounding the vessel.

Today we continue exploring the remote southern reaches of Raja Ampat with three dives selected according to tides, visibility and marine life activity.

Each reef in Misool offers its own personality. Some are dominated by dramatic soft coral-covered walls while others feature shallow coral plateaus teeming with reef fish and macro life.

Depending on the boat’s location and weather conditions, the afternoon and evening program may vary. We may visit one of Misool’s iconic viewpoints overlooking the maze of limestone islands, head to a secluded beach for sunset drinks and a swim surrounded by juvenile blacktip reef sharks, or organise an additional night dive to continue exploring the reef after dark.

Our final day in Misool allows for three more dives across carefully selected reefs before Eliya begins her long journey north toward Central Raja Ampat.

As the southern islands slowly disappear behind us, we cross the heart of the archipelago overnight beneath some of the clearest night skies in Indonesia.

This morning we arrive in Central Raja Ampat, where the scenery and reef systems begin to change noticeably.

Compared to the steep soft coral walls of Misool, the reefs here are often characterised by extensive hard coral gardens, shallow plateaus and limestone island formations scattered across turquoise lagoons. The Penemu region hosts some of the area’s most famous dive sites, including Melissa’s Garden, renowned for its pristine coral coverage and abundant fish life.

Wobbegong sharks are frequently encountered resting beneath coral ledges while schools of sweetlips, snappers and fusiliers gather across the reef. In the late afternoon, we go ashore for the short climb to the Piaynemo viewpoint, where one of Raja Ampat’s most iconic panoramas unfolds across dozens of limestone islands.

Today we explore the western side of Waigeo, an area known for isolated reefs, submerged seamounts and nutrient-rich currents attracting large pelagic life.

Dive sites such as Mayhem often deliver intense fish action, with giant trevallies, dogtooth tuna and large schools of jacks hunting through dense clouds of baitfish. Depending on tides and conditions, dives may include sites such as Cape Kri, Sardines Reef, Blue Magic, Chicken Reef, Mioskon or Sawandarek. Large schools of fish gather across thriving coral reefs while reef sharks, turtles and manta rays patrol the surrounding waters.

As darkness falls, attention turns toward the smaller and stranger creatures emerging across sandy slopes and coral rubble. A night dive in the area known as “The Crazy Zoo” offers exceptional opportunities for macro photography and unusual critter encounters.

Our final diving day offers one last opportunity to experience the extraordinary diversity that defines Raja Ampat.

Two final dives will be selected according to conditions and recent marine life sightings before Eliya begins her return journey toward Sorong.

After breakfast, guests begin disembarkation in Sorong.

At 10AM, our team will meet you at the airport* or your hotel in Alor before transferring you to KLM Eliya, moored in Kalabahi Harbour. Once onboard, our crew will welcome you with refreshments while the Cruise Director introduces you to the vessel, safety procedures and the plan for the days ahead.

With the dry volcanic hills and rugged coastline of Alor rising around the bay, our expedition sets its tone immediately — remote, unhurried and a long way from the ordinary. After settling in and preparing your gear, we begin the afternoon with a check dive in the calm waters of Kalabahi Bay, followed by an exploration dive on the surrounding reefs.

As darkness falls over the bay, we drop in for the first night dive of the expedition — a dedicated exploration of the volcanic black sand slopes of Kalabahi Bay, where extraordinary macro life and unusual critters begin to emerge after dark.

*If you are planning to arrive on the same day, please be aware that there is currently only one daily flight from Kupang to Alor, landing at approximately 9:30 AM — which works comfortably with our 10AM boarding. We still recommend arriving the day before where possible to avoid any travel delays.

The strait separating Alor and Pantar is one of the richest marine environments in Eastern Indonesia. Strong currents push nutrient-rich water through the channel, sustaining exceptionally healthy reef systems and driving the kind of fish density that makes Pantar Strait drift diving a genuine highlight of any Alor liveaboard itinerary.

Throughout the day, we select dive sites according to the tides and conditions. Large schools of reef fish gather along current-swept reefs and pinnacles, while pelagic species work the deeper blue water. Above the surface, the backdrop is equally compelling — steep volcanic islands, remote villages, dramatic coastlines and deep blue channels make this one of the most visually striking environments of our entire expedition.

After the afternoon dives, we move into a sheltered location for a sunset or night dive dedicated to macro photography and rare critters, before beginning the overnight crossing toward the Ipet Islands.

Located near the Boling Strait between Adonara and Lembata, the remote Ipet Islands — marks the western border of the Alor Archipelago — remain one of the least explored diving destinations in Indonesia. Few divers make it this far, and that isolation shows — low-lying islands, quiet lagoons, white sand banks and offshore reefs that see almost no dive traffic.

The reefs are in excellent health, supporting abundant fish life, reef sharks and occasional pelagic encounters. We select dive sites, a mix of reefs and seamounts, according to conditions, working with the ocean while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and stunning tropical scenery of this rarely visited region.

Crystal-clear water, distant volcanic peaks, turquoise lagoons and barely touched coral ecosystems — the Ipet Islands are the kind of place that reminds you why expedition diving exists. A genuinely rare find on any itinerary.

After sunset, we continue westward along the Flores coastline toward the Maumere region.

We wake up in the Maumere region — an area with a compelling story. Once considered one of Indonesia's premier dive destinations, the reefs here were severely damaged by the 1992 earthquake and tsunami. Today, after more than three decades of recovery, they have returned to genuine form: beautiful coral formations, rich fish life and excellent biodiversity that rewards patient, exploratory diving.

Our morning dives focus on offshore reefs and deeper structures where pelagic activities can be encountered, while our afternoon and night dives move into the sheltered waters of the bay, known for their diverse macro life and muck diving on colourful sloping coral reefs.

The coastline around Maumere is particularly scenic, with green hills, volcanic ridges, small fishing villages, and quiet bays stretching along Flores Island.

After our final dives around Pulau Palue, we begin our overnight crossing into the most iconic waters of the expedition — Komodo National Park.

Over three full days, our dive team selects the best sites each day according to tides, currents and conditions, working through the Park's most spectacular reefs and channels.

Komodo is internationally recognised for its extraordinary biodiversity, powerful nutrient-rich currents, and exceptional fish density. The range of dive sites here is remarkable: colourful coral gardens, fast drift dives, current-swept pinnacles thick with schooling fish, and manta ray cleaning stations that rank among the finest in the world.

Above the surface, Komodo's landscapes are no less impressive. Dry savannah hills, rugged islands, turquoise bays, white sand beaches and dramatic coastlines create scenery that feels unlike anywhere else in Indonesia.

Each day we follow the same rhythm of three day dives and one sunset or night dive.

Depending on conditions, dives may include sites such as Batu Bolong, Crystal Rock, Castle Rock, Tatawa Kecil, Siaba Kecil, Shotgun, Golden Passage, Manta Alley, and the remote southern bays of Nusa Kode — some of the most iconic dives sites in Indonesia.

Our final diving day begins with two last dives within the Komodo National Park. Once back onboard, our crew rinses and stows all dive equipment while we enjoy lunch as Eliya cruises slowly toward Rinca Island.

A visit to Komodo National Park would not be complete without encountering its most famous residents — the Komodo dragons. Accompanied by local park rangers, we will explore Rinca Island and its recently developed educational centre at Loh Buaya while learning more about these remarkable animals and the surrounding ecosystem.

The landscape of Rinca is striking in its own right — dry savannah hills, twisted palm trees and panoramic viewpoints over the surrounding islands and turquoise water. Alongside the dragons, the island is home to deer, monkeys, buffalo and a wealth of birdlife.

Before returning to the marina, we stop near a small mangrove island inhabited by thousands of flying foxes. At sunset, they lift from the trees and stream toward the Flores mainland in one of the most memorable natural spectacles of the entire expedition — a fitting final scene before the journey ends.

We return to Labuan Bajo marina during the evening and spend our final night onboard.

KLM Eliya concludes her expedition at Labuan Bajo. Breakfast is served onboard as usual before disembarkation begins. You may leave early in the morning, with all departures completed no later than 10 AM.

Our team will assist with airport transfers or transportation to hotels in Labuan Bajo for guests continuing their travels through Indonesia.

Our adventure begins in Labuan Bajo, gateway to the Lesser Sunda Islands and the starting point of our eastbound expedition.

Guests are welcomed at the Scuba Junkie office at 9AM before transferring to KLM Eliya, our traditional Indonesian Phinisi and home for the next ten days. Once onboard, our crew will welcome you with refreshments while the Cruise Director introduces you to the vessel, safety procedures and the plan for the days ahead.

After settling into your cabin and preparing your equipment, we begin the expedition with a relaxed check dive at Sabolon Kecil. This attractive sloping reef descends toward a small seamount where schools of reef fish gather and healthy coral growth provides an ideal environment for our first underwater exploration.

As soon as the dive is completed, Eliya begins her journey eastward along the Flores Sea. The afternoon offers time to settle into life onboard, meet fellow guests and enjoy the first sunset of the expedition.

After our overnight crossing, we will wake up in front of Pulau Palue (also known as Pulau Raja).

Pulau Palue rises dramatically from the sea west of Maumere, its active volcano forming a striking backdrop to every dive of the day. The underwater topography is equally dramatic, steep walls draped in giant sponges, large sea fans and healthy hard coral formations, with dense fish life throughout.

We will then bring Eliya closer to the Flores coast and select a calm bay to anchor, for the first night dive of the trip dedicated to macro critter hunting. We will spend the night anchored, and leave early morning to reach the fantastic reefs of Maumere.

The sunsets here are quite extraordinary, and we might be witnessing the flight of thousands of giant fruit bats that spend the day on one of the islands and take off at dawn to search for food on the nearby Flores.

During the night, Eliya will sail to the remote volcanic outpost of Pulau Komba.

Few dive sites in Indonesia combine geology and marine life quite like Pulau Komba. Rising directly from the open sea, this isolated volcanic island remains one of the most active volcanoes in the region, frequently producing eruptions that send ash and glowing material into the sky. Its remote location, combined with nutrient-rich waters and minimal fishing pressure, has created an exceptionally productive marine environment.

The diving is as dramatic as the landscape above. Steep volcanic slopes plunge into deep water, coral-covered reefs emerge from black sand substrates, and schools of fish gather around the island's underwater structures. Tuna, trevallies, reef sharks and large pelagic visitors are all possible encounters as we explore this remarkable outpost of the Ring of Fire.

Pulau Komba possesses a distinctly expeditionary atmosphere. Far from established tourism routes and surrounded by open ocean, it offers the feeling of diving at the edge of the archipelago.

Toward sunset, Eliya positions herself at a comfortable distance from the volcano. As daylight fades, guests may witness one of the most memorable spectacles of the entire voyage: eruptions illuminating the evening sky while the silhouette of the volcano dominates the horizon.

Following this extraordinary natural display, we begin our overnight crossing toward the Alor Archipelago.

Please note that Pulau Komba is an offshore destination and access remains entirely dependent on sea conditions and current volcanic activity. The strait separating Alor and Pantar is one of the richest marine environments in Eastern Indonesia. Strong currents push nutrient-rich water through the channel, sustaining exceptionally healthy reef systems and driving the kind of fish density that makes Pantar Strait drift diving a genuine highlight of any Alor liveaboard itinerary.

Throughout the day, we select dive sites according to the tides and conditions. Large schools of reef fish gather along current-swept reefs and pinnacles, while pelagic species work the deeper blue water. Hammerhead sharks are known to be frequent visitors, particularly around the months of October and November while they transit through the Banda Sea.

Above the surface, the backdrop is equally compelling — steep volcanic islands, remote villages, dramatic coastlines and deep blue channels make this one of the most visually striking environments of our entire expedition.

After the afternoon dives, we move into a sheltered location for a sunset or night dive dedicated to macro photography and rare critters.

Our final diving day begins with two last dives in the waters surrounding Alor, a final opportunity to enjoy the extraordinary biodiversity and reef health that have made the region one of Indonesia's most respected diving destinations.

After the dives, the crew carefully rinses and stores all dive equipment while Eliya cruises toward Kalabahi Bay.

In the afternoon, guests may choose to visit a traditional Alorese village. This cultural excursion offers a rare glimpse into daily life in one of Eastern Indonesia's most distinctive island communities, where ancestral traditions remain deeply woven into everyday life. Depending on local activities and timing, visitors may have the opportunity to observe traditional dances, ceremonies or community gatherings taking place naturally within the village.

As evening settles over Kalabahi Bay, crew and guests gather together one final time onboard. Surrounded by the volcanic hills of Alor, it is a moment to reflect on a journey that has crossed some of the most remote and rewarding waters of the Indonesian archipelago.

KLM Eliya concludes her expedition at Kalabahi Harbour. Breakfast will be served as usual before guests begin disembarkation. Guests may leave the boat from 5 AM, with all departures completed by 10 AM.

It is a journey built around exploration, biodiversity and some of the finest diving found anywhere in the Coral Triangle.

Over ten days, we cross the Banda Sea, explore hammerhead shark territory, visit one of Indonesia's most fascinating historical regions and finish among the limestone islands of Misool. The route follows a gradual transition from the deep ocean environments of Banda to the coral-rich ecosystems of Raja Ampat, offering an exceptional variety of diving throughout the trip.

In the morning, our team will meet you either at Ambon Airport or at your hotel before transferring you onboard KLM Eliya, waiting in Tulehu Harbour.

After settling into your cabin, the crew will introduce you to life onboard while the Cruise Director presents the safety procedures and the program for the days ahead.

Once everyone is ready, we will start sailing eastward and organise a check dive in the Pulau Bomba area. This gentle sloping reef provides a comfortable introduction to the trip and an opportunity to make sure all equipment is functioning properly.

Following the dive, Eliya will continue overnight towards the legendary Banda Neira archipelago.

During the night, Eliya crosses the Banda Sea. By morning, the volcanic islands of Banda appear on the horizon.

Today's diving focuses on Pulau Suanggi, a small island located outside the main Banda group. The area is known for its deep walls, strong currents and regular hammerhead shark encounters during their seasonal migration through the Banda Sea.

Conditions permitting, we will spend the day exploring different sections of the reef. Large schools of pelagic fish often patrol the drop-offs, while the coral-covered slopes support abundant reef life.

In the afternoon, we will enter Banda's natural harbour, following the same route once used by Portuguese and Dutch ships arriving in search of nutmeg.

As sunset approaches, we prepare for a very different type of dive. The harbour is home to numerous mandarinfish, which gather at dusk for their daily mating display. After dark, a wide variety of macro life becomes active among the coral rubble.

Banda Neira has a unique place in Indonesian history and no visit to the area would be complete without spending some time ashore.

Early in the morning, we will visit Fort Belgica, built by the Dutch East India Company during the 17th century to control the spice trade. From there, we continue to a traditional nutmeg plantation where breakfast is served while learning about this spice that once attracted merchants from across the world.

Back in town, colonial buildings and narrow streets offer a glimpse into Banda's remarkable past.

After returning to Eliya, we will head underwater once again.

One of the dives takes place on the lava flow created by the eruption of Gunung Api in 1988. The site has since been colonised and completely overgrown by hard corals and now stands as one of the best examples of reef regeneration in Indonesia.

A second dive will be selected according to the conditions of the day, among the multiple sites in the vicinity.

In the evening, we will anchor in a sheltered bay where an optional night dive can be organised on a critter-rich slope.

Pulau Hatta lies on the eastern side of the Banda archipelago and offers some of the most consistent diving in the region.

The island is surrounded by steep walls, healthy reefs and current-swept points that regularly attract large schools of fish. Hammerhead sharks are often encountered here, together with tuna, trevallies and other pelagic species.

The area is also known for its large groups of bumphead parrotfish and excellent visibility.

Dive sites will be selected according to the tides and sea conditions.

These will be our final dives in the Banda Sea before beginning the overnight crossing towards Pulau Koon.

After the overnight crossing, we arrive at Pulau Koon, located at the meeting point of the deep Banda Sea and the shallower Ceram Sea.

SIGNATURE SITE : Too Many Fish

The name says everything! Protected by local communities for generations, Koon hosts one of the largest fish aggregations in Eastern Indonesia. Vast schools of fusiliers, snappers and surgeonfish cover large sections of the reef, while turtles and pelagic species are frequent visitors.

Leopard sharks are occasionally seen resting on the reef and hammerhead sharks sometimes pass through the deeper water.

We will spend the day exploring different parts of the reef according to currents and conditions.

Pulau Koon also marks the transition between the Banda Sea and Raja Ampat. The underwater scenery begins to change noticeably. Coral coverage becomes denser, reef structures more complex and fish biomass continues to increase as we move north.

After the final dive, Eliya starts the overnight crossing towards Misool.

After the overnight crossing, we will wake surrounded by the limestone islands and turquoise lagoons of Southern Raja Ampat.

Over the next three days, we will explore some of Misool's most renowned dive areas, including sites around Wayil, Boo and Fiabacet, conditions permitting.

Misool is often considered one of the richest reef systems in the world. Coral coverage is exceptional, fish biomass is impressive and every dive offers a spectacular combination of reef scenery and marine life.

The diving here can be described as “diving on reefs on steroids”. Biomass is fantastic, soft corals grow on top of soft corals, life abounds in every direction.

Large sea fans decorate the reef slopes while schools of fusiliers, snappers, sweetlips and barracudas gather in the currents. Oceanic manta rays are regularly encountered at several cleaning stations throughout the region.

Sunset and night dives provide the opportunity to search for one of Raja Ampat's most unusual endemic species, the walking shark, quietly hunting among the reef after dark.

Between dives, there is plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, explore hidden lagoons and relax onboard.

The Daram Islands provide a fitting conclusion to the expedition.

Located only a few hours from Misool, this protected archipelago offers a similar environment in an even more remote setting. Many of the dive sites here have become favourites among Raja Ampat guides and liveaboard crews.

Sites such as Andiamo, Living Colors or Candy Store are known for their healthy reefs, colourful coral formations, impressive sea fan forests and dense fish life.

The final two dives of the trip will take place here before we begin our journey towards Sorong.

After the last dive, the crew will start rinsing and securing equipment while Eliya heads north.

We expect to arrive in Sorong Harbour during the evening.

After breakfast, guests begin disembarkation in Sorong.

Departures may take place from 5:00AM onwards, with all guests leaving the vessel by 10:00AM.

Transfers can be arranged either to Sorong Airport or to hotels within the city for guests continuing their travels through Indonesia.

During the afternoon, we will conduct a check dive in the calm waters of Kalabahi Bay.

After sunset, we enter a completely different world- the volcanic black sand slopes of Kalabahi have earned an excellent reputation among macro enthusiasts. As darkness settles over the bay, unusual critters begin emerging from the sand, offering a fascinating introduction to the biodiversity of Eastern Indonesia.

The narrow channel separating Alor and Pantar is one of the most biologically productive marine environments in Indonesia. Powerful tidal exchanges funnel nutrient-rich waters through the strait, sustaining exceptionally healthy reefs and creating ideal conditions for large concentrations of fish life.

Dive sites are selected according to tides and current conditions. Throughout the day, we drift along vibrant reefs and submerged ridges where immense schools of fusiliers, surgeonfish and jacks gather in the current.

The deeper blue often rewards attentive divers with pelagic visitors. Hammerhead sharks are known to frequent the area, particularly during October and November as they move through the Banda Sea migration corridor.

Above the surface, towering volcanic islands, remote coastal villages and dramatic cliffs provide a spectacular backdrop to every dive.

Following the final afternoon dive, Eliya begins one of the great passages of the expedition.

As the sun sinks below the horizon, we set course eastward across the Banda Sea toward Pulau Wetar, leaving the Alor Archipelago slowly fading into the distance.

The northwestern coastline of Wetar offers some of the most exhilarating drift diving of the entire voyage.

Around Pulau Reong and its surrounding reefs, nutrient-rich currents attract enormous concentrations of marine life. Schools of surgeonfish, jacks and snappers gather in the channels while healthy coral gardens blanket the shallower sections.

The diving alternates between fast-moving drifts and more relaxed reef exploration, allowing us to fully appreciate the diversity of this little-visited island.

Above water, the scenery is equally impressive. Wetar's rugged volcanic landscapes rise dramatically from the sea, creating one of the most photogenic settings of the expedition.

After the final dive, Eliya will resume her eastward course toward one of the most isolated island groups of the Banda Sea: Romang and the secret Telang Archipelago.

Romang remains one of the least explored diving destinations in Indonesia. Our focus lies around the remote Telang Islands, where crystal-clear water, healthy reefs and strong currents combine to create exceptional diving conditions.

The underwater topography ranges from colourful coral gardens to exposed channels where pelagic life thrives. Schools of fish patrol the current lines while reef sharks frequently appear along the deeper drop-offs. On certain secluded dive sites, encounters with silvertip reef sharks and nurse sharks resting beneath coral bommies are possible.

Between dives, time permitting, we may step ashore to enjoy the untouched landscapes of these forgotten islands, a reminder of just how far from conventional travel routes this expedition has ventured.

In the evening, Eliya will continue toward Pulau Damar.

Today we enter one of the most promising hammerhead regions of the Banda Sea. A famous site located near Nusleur Island has built a reputation for regular encounters with large schools of scalloped hammerhead sharks. Conditions will determine our exact dive plan, but the objective remains clear: search the deep blue for one of the ocean's most iconic predators.

The surrounding reefs are equally impressive. Massive barrel sponges, steep walls and dense schools of pelagic fish dominate the underwater landscape.

After the afternoon dive, we will continue eastward toward the volcanic islands of Teun, Nila and Serua.

Few divers ever reach this isolated chain of volcanic islands. Scattered across the Banda Sea, Teun, Nila and Serua form a remote frontier where deep ocean currents collide with steep underwater topography.

Walls plunge into the abyss, offshore pinnacles rise from the depths and pristine coral reefs flourish in remarkably clear water.

This region is considered one of the most reliable areas for hammerhead sightings during their seasonal movements through the Banda Sea. Large schools of jacks, fusiliers and tuna patrol the reefs while grey reef sharks frequently cruise along the drop-offs.

This is Banda Sea diving in its purest form : wild, remote and wonderfully unpredictable.

Following the final dive, Eliya sets course northeast toward one of the expedition's most legendary destinations: Pulau Manuk.

Rising alone from the vast Banda Sea, Pulau Manuk is among the most extraordinary islands in Indonesia. This active volcanic island has no permanent human inhabitants. Instead, it belongs entirely to seabirds, sea snakes and the forces of nature.

The smell of sulphur drifts across the water while volcanic cliffs tower above the sea. Below the surface, giant sea fans and enormous sponges cover steep volcanic slopes swept by nutrient-rich currents.

Hammerhead sharks are regularly encountered here, often cruising through the deeper blue water.

Yet Manuk is famous for something even more unique...

The island hosts one of the largest concentrations of sea snakes found anywhere in the world. Unlike the occasional solitary snake encountered elsewhere, Manuk often presents divers with dozens of individuals actively hunting across the reef. Sometimes they appear to cooperate with trevallies and emperors, creating hunting scenes unlike anything most divers have ever witnessed.

For many guests, Pulau Manuk becomes the defining memory of the entire expedition.

After the final dive, Eliya begins her overnight crossing toward the historic Banda Islands.

This morning, the volcanic silhouette of Banda Neira emerges from the sea. These islands once stood at the centre of the global spice trade, drawing merchants, explorers and empires from across the world.

Our diving focuses on current-swept reefs surrounding the archipelago, where healthy coral ecosystems and pelagic encounters remain the main attraction. In the afternoon, we enter Banda's magnificent natural harbour, retracing the route once followed by Portuguese and Dutch ships arriving in search of nutmeg.

As sunset approaches, we prepare for one of the expedition's most unusual dives.

Beneath the harbour waters, mandarin fish emerge from coral rubble to perform their remarkable nightly courtship displays while a fascinating array of macro life becomes active after dark.

No visit to Banda is complete without exploring its remarkable history. Early in the morning, we step ashore to visit the imposing Fort Belgica, built by the Dutch East India Company during the 17th century.

We then continue to a traditional nutmeg plantation, where breakfast is served while learning about the spice that once shaped world history. Colonial architecture, quiet streets and local culture provide a fascinating contrast to the isolation of the surrounding ocean.

As night falls, we begin the final major crossing of the expedition toward Nusa Laut.

Nusa Laut offers a fitting finale to our journey across the Banda Sea. For generations, local communities have protected these waters from destructive fishing practices and turtle poaching. The result is one of the healthiest reef systems in the region.

Our final dives take place within the heart of this protected area, among spectacular coral gardens, dense fish life and pristine reef ecosystems. One last opportunity remains to encounter hammerheads before the expedition concludes.

Back onboard, the crew begins rinsing and securing equipment while Eliya turns westward toward Ambon.

We will arrive in Tulehu Harbour during the evening.

After breakfast, guests begin disembarkation at Tulehu Harbour. Departures may take place from 5:00AM onwards, with all guests leaving the vessel by 10:00AM.

At 9 AM, one of our drivers will collect you from your hotel* and transfer you to the harbour in Sorong. Once onboard KLM Eliya, our crew will welcome you with refreshments while the Cruise Director introduces you to the vessel, safety procedures and the plan for the days ahead.

After settling into your cabin and preparing your gear, a relaxed check dive following lunch gives everyone the chance to get comfortable in the water before the real adventure begins. That afternoon, Eliya departs Sorong and begin her first overnight crossing, heading south toward the spectacular limestone islands of Misool.

*Guests arriving on an early morning flight may also be collected directly from the airport, provided the flight lands no later than 10AM. However, we strongly recommend arriving the day before embarkation to avoid possible delays or missing the boat!

After the overnight crossing, we will wake surrounded by the limestone islands and turquoise lagoons of southern Raja Ampat. Over the next two days, we will explore some of Misool’s most iconic dive areas — sites around Daram, Boo and Fiabacet — conditions permitting.

This region is world-renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity: giant sea fans, dramatic reef formations and dense schools of fusiliers, snappers and barracudas create some of the richest reef scenes on the planet. Manta rays are regularly spotted at several cleaning stations, while sunset and night dives may reveal the elusive Raja Ampat walking shark hunting quietly amongst the reef.

Each day follows a rhythm of three day dives and one sunset or night dive, with plenty of time in between to relax onboard, soak in the scenery and experience life at sea as we settle into the pace of expedition.

After an overnight crossing from Misool, we arrive at Pulau Koon, located at the meeting point of the shallow Ceram Sea and the deep Banda Sea.

We spend the day exploring different sections of the reef, reading the currents and conditions as we go. After the final dive, Eliya continues southward across the Banda Sea toward the remote volcanic island of Pulau Manuk.

SIGNATURE SITE: "Too Many Fish" — the name says everything. Koon's reef, protected for generations by local communities, is one of Eastern Indonesia's most extraordinary fish aggregation sites: immense schools of reef fish, vibrant coral slopes, resident turtles and constant pelagic traffic. On a good day, leopard sharks and passing hammerheads make an appearance.

Rising in isolation from the Banda Sea, Pulau Manuk is one of the most remote and dramatic islands of the entire expedition. This active volcanic island, inhabited only by seabirds, carries a truly wild atmosphere where the raw power of nature is constantly present above and below the surface.

Underwater, steep volcanic slopes are draped in giant sponges and massive sea fans, swept by nutrient-rich currents. Large schools of pelagic fish patrol the deeper ridges, but Pulau Manuk is most celebrated for something far more unusual: its remarkable population of sea snakes . Often seen hunting in coordinated groups alongside trevallies and emperors, Manuk's sea snakes create a diving experience that is genuinely singular — unlike anything else in Indonesia, or anywhere else for that matter. This dive consistently ranks as one of the expedition's defining moments.

Following the final dive, Eliya continues overnight toward the remote forgotten islands of Teon, Nila and Serua — also known as the TNS archipelago.

This morning, we will awaken within the remote Teon, Nila and Serua island chain — far removed from any regular tourist route. These isolated reefs are shaped by deep ocean currents and volcanic geography, and the diving reflects it: steep walls, offshore pinnacles and pristine coral filled with abundant marine life.

Dive sites are chosen according to conditions and tides, but large schools of jacks and fusiliers are commonplace, and reef sharks and other pelagic species regularly patrol the drop-offs. A true Banda Sea experience in one of its most overlooked corners.

As the day closes, Eliya turns westward through the Banda Sea, bound for Pulau Romang.

Romang offers a compelling mix of untouched coral reefs, small island scenery and exhilarating Banda Sea drift dives. Our preferred dive area lies around the Telang island group on Romang’s eastern side, where crystal-clear water, healthy reefs and strong fish life create outstanding diving conditions.

The dive ranges from vibrant shallow coral gardens to fast-moving channels attracting sharks and large schools of pelagic fish. On a secret site, there is also a good chance of encountering silvertip reef sharks and nurse sharks resting beneath coral bommies.

Between dives, we may also enjoy time ashore that reveals the kind of remote island landscape that reminds you how far from the ordinary world you've come. Eliya then continues toward Wetar Island.

Today's diving focuses on the spectacular northwestern coast of Wetar Island, particularly around Pulau Reong and its surrounding reefs. Nutrient-rich waters drive intense fish activity, and the incoming tides produce some of the most exhilarating drift dives of the expedition.

Huge aggregations of surgeonfish, jacks and reef fish gather in the channels, while vibrant coral gardens provide excellent conditions for more relaxed exploration between stronger current dives. Above the surface, the dramatic volcanic landscape is one of the most visually striking backdrops of the entire journey.

After the final dive, Eliya begins her last overnight crossing — toward the Alor archipelago.

Widely regarded as one of Indonesia's hidden gems, the Alor archipelago combines spectacular underwater biodiversity with dramatic island landscapes and powerful currents. The day's diving focuses primarily on the famous Pantar Strait, where nutrient-rich waters sustain thriving coral reefs and remarkable fish activity.

Depending on conditions, cooler upwellings from the deep ocean can occasionally attract larger pelagic visitors — including mola mola and hammerhead sharks. A fitting finale for a week of Banda Sea pelagic diving.

As dusk falls, we move into Kalabahi Bay for something entirely different: one of Indonesia's finest muck dives. Strange and fascinating macro creatures lie hidden in the dark volcanic sand — a completely different world from the open-water reef dives that have defined the week.

The final two dives complete our exploration of the Alor region, while the crew carefully rinses and stows all dive equipment in preparation for disembarkation.

In the afternoon, guests are invited to visit a local Alorese village — a chance to experience the culture and warmth of a community that lives close to its ancestral traditions, in a genuinely unhurried way of life rarely encountered on mainstream tourist routes. Depending on the day's activities, guests may witness traditional ceremonies or dances taking place naturally within the community.

As the sun sets over Kalabahi Bay, the full crew and guests gather onboard one final time — to mark the end of a journey that's difficult to leave behind, from the reefs of Raja Ampat to the remote volcanic islands of the Banda Sea and Alor.
