Kanha Natha
Kanha Natha is a traditional wooden phinisi, built in 2017, that sails from Labuan Bajo into Komodo National Park. With room for 12 to 14 guests in four cabins, it is one of the smaller boats on the route, so the days stay relaxed and easy to follow.
The 3 days, 2 nights open trip covers the best-known stops in the park. You climb to the top of Padar Island for the view over its bays, snorkel at Pink Beach and Manta Point, and walk with a guide to see Komodo dragons. On the first evening you watch the bats leave Kalong Island at sunset.
Cabins and life on board
There are two private ocean-view cabins, each for at least two guests, and two share cabins with single bunk beds, which suit solo travellers and friends. All cabins have air conditioning and hot and cold showers.
There is a sun deck at the front and one on top, with space for yoga. Lazy chairs and beanbags make the long sails between islands more comfortable. Meals are served in the dining area, and the bar, karaoke set and guitar come out in the evening. Solar panels supply part of the power, and a crew of seven sails, cooks and guides.
Trips
Kanha Natha runs leisure trips: snorkelling, short hikes and beach stops, no scuba diving. Pick-up is around 9:00 on day 1 and drop-off around 12:00 on day 3, from or to the airport or a hotel in Labuan Bajo town. The price covers your cabin, all meals, coffee, tea and water, a local guide and snorkel gear. The Komodo National Park entrance ticket is paid on top. Dates, cabin prices and the day-by-day route are below.
