Nemmo

Nemmo is a 20-metre, two-masted boat for 10 guests, sailing Komodo National Park out of Labuan Bajo. She runs two-day, one-night open trips three times a week and can be chartered whole for two to four days.

The boat

She is 20 metres long with a 4-metre beam, two masts and a Mitsubishi engine, and a crew of five runs her. Meals are served at a long wooden table in the covered dining area. The stern deck has a shaded lounge with bean bags and a low table, and the bow is open for the views. Snorkelling gear is on board, and there is a liferaft and life jackets for every guest.

The cabins

Four cabins, all with air conditioning, their own bathroom, towels and a charging point.

• Master room: the only cabin on the upper deck, with a double bed and ocean-view windows.
• Private rooms I and II: two cabins on the main deck, each with a double bed and ocean-view windows.
• Sharing room: a main-deck cabin with two double beds as bunks for up to four guests. It can be booked from one person, the cheapest way on board.

Itineraries

• Day 1: Kelor island for the short climb to the viewpoint, the Komodo dragons with a park ranger on Rinca island, then Kalong at dusk, when the flying foxes leave the mangroves.
• Day 2: the walk up Padar, Pink Beach, then Taka Makassar and Manta Point, where mantas are often seen but never certain, and back to Labuan Bajo.

That is the two-day open trip, which departs every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Private charters of three and four days add Komodo island, Siaba, Sebayur and Bidadari, and the crew can change the order for weather.

What is included, and what is not

• Included: hotel or airport pick-up and drop-off in Labuan Bajo, all meals on board, snacks, coffee, tea and drinking water, snorkelling gear, a tour leader and local guide, and on open trips, photos and drone footage of the trip.
• Not included: Komodo National Park fees and ranger, paid separately, flights, hotels in Labuan Bajo, personal expenses and tips for the crew.

Who she suits

Travellers with only two days for Komodo who still want a night on board, and small groups who want a private boat without paying for a big one. The operator recommends its open trips for guests aged 12 to 45, and not for infants or pregnant women. Nemmo is a cruising and snorkelling boat, not a dive boat. Prices are per person on the open trip, or per boat for a charter. Ask us for dates.
