Putri Papua

Putri Papua Liveaboard runs diving trips in Raja Ampat all year round. Raja Ampat sits at the centre of the Coral Triangle and is known for its coral reefs and marine biodiversity.

On the morning of February 4, the 53 meter long vessel Putri Papua (MMSI: 525003530) sank  in the Pacific Ocean 12 miles off the coast of Sorong, West Papua, Indonesia. The Putri Papua had suffered engine failure and alerted authorities via WhatsApp of the damage to the vessel. Before Indonesian authorities could reach the vessel, all 17 crew and passengers had evacuated to a life raft. The Putri Papua would sink a short time later.  Two crew were injured during the incident and taken to hospital for treatment.

The Boat

Putri Papua takes up to 9 guests in four cabins. Each cabin has an ensuite bathroom, a double or twin bed, and air conditioning.

The communal areas are air conditioned and have a TV, CD and DVD player. The dining table seats nine, and the cook prepares European and Indonesian dishes. There is a sun deck with a canopy.

Experienced guides lead the diving and set each dive to the group’s certification level and interests.
